I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny. -- Coco Chanel

Shopping trip to Southampton...

Don't you just love it when you find something you LOVE and it's an absolute bargain!

Well on my shopping trip to Southampton with my dad (which was supposed to be for finding essentials for my new room at uni) I found a few gorgeous staple garments for my winter wardrobe that I simply loved and had to get, even though I shouldn't be spending any more money!

So, I told myself (for the 100th time) these are the last clothes I'm going to buy now this winter.

This is what I bought on my Primark visit, I've been looking for a bright red cardi for a while now, but I thought this one was different with the ruche shoulders that are raised slightly balancing out my pear shape. I mean Primark's only cheap so I shouldn't feel too guilty, should I? ...

Navy lace dress, Primark, £3
Bright red cardi, Primark, £9

The rest of the outfit I had already:
Ballet pumps, New Look, £8
Navy flower belt, Accessorize
Pearls & Flower, both H&M

I also took a little detour to New Look because I figured I won't be getting my 50% for much longer now so I thought it would be rude not to...

Lacey Bed Jacket, New Look, £24.99
I thought this pretty embroidered top would be a perfect alternative to a cardi, which would work well with many outfits. I wore it out with this dress because I thought the floral pattern showed up really well against the vivid blue colour.

The rest of the outfit I had already:
Bright blue frill dress, New Look

and lastly a few essentials for the winter...

Polka dot tights, £3.99
Navy tights, £2.99
Bow fingerless gloves, £5.99
All New Look

Hope you're all getting stocked up with lots of pretty things for winter! :)

Work experience at More! magazine...from meeting Mark Heyes to dressing a gorgeous model!

I bet you can imagine my excitement when I was offered two weeks work experience at more! magazine in London...

Just a girl from the tiny Isle of Wight and I was ready to take on the big city of London!

I decided I would commute each day from my student house in Southampton each day as it was the cheapest option. So, with an exciting 5.20am start each morning I made my way to London by train then took to the underground where I made my way towards more! Magazine.

Here is the outfit I chose for my first day:

Blue polka dot dress, Primark
Red bag, Accessorize
'LOVE' necklace, New Look
Pearls, charity shop
Teacup bracelet, Topshop

As frightening as the first days of travel were, I managed to find my way eventually even if it did mean asking 50 people on my way! But now my weeks are up, I almost feel like a pro at it!

My first day was definately one of my highlights- I bumped into GMTV fashion stylist Mark Heyes down Neal Street and actually stopped and had a chat with him! We spoke about fashion, his holiday he was about to go on and about a new surprise he had in store for the styling part of GMTV! He told me to say hi to the more! girls and gave me a hug and of he went! =D

The rest of my week consisted of returns, collecting clothes, calling up PR's, compiling outfits for photo shoots and other little jobs that anyone asked me to do!

I also had a meeting with all the girls on the fashion department, where I had the opportunity to ask any questions...I made the most of this.

Top Tips to get into a fashion magazine
1. To have character
2. To be Reliable
3. work experience. work experience. work experience.

The second week I was lucky enough to go for a day long photo shoot for More's 'more for less' section, this was by far my favourite day! I began by pressing the clothes the model was going to be wearing. I was then introduced to the photographer, make-up artist/hair stylist and model, they were all lovely and I managed to chat to them about their jobs. My job was to dress the model and pin her into the clothes, where the clothes were much too big for her tiny frame, I could then watch her being photographed whilst writing the credits for everything she wore.

All in all these two weeks were a great experience where I leant a lot of new things that will now stick with me forever!

Here are some of my outfits that I wore during the two weeks...

Blue dress with lace underskirt, Ebay
Red bag, Accessorize
Red Bow &'LOVE' necklace, both New Look
Leggings, Primark

Striped maxi dress, New Look
Red flower corsage, Accessorize
Small strand of pearls, charity shop
Long Strand, New Look

Pearl earrings, Accessorize
Bow ring, Live like this
Bracelet, Top Shop
Necklaces &flower (as above)

'Paris'crop top, New Look
Red skirt, Zara
Small flower, H&M

Now to find some more work experience =)

My new job at New Look... and the lovely new outfits that come with it!

After returning from University for summer, I simply needed to find a job. I really desperately didn't want to go back to my part-time job of four years at Matalan. You know one of those jobs where you have been there so long, you kind of get stuck in a routine of returning again and again, because it just seems easier.

Well, this time I decided I will find a new job that I enjoy and preferably that involves my love for fashion.

So, after lots of CV's handed out and no response, I went into New Look to hand in my CV and had a chat with the manager then I was called up for an interview, then just 2 days later I was told I had the job!

I couldn't decide which I was more pleased about, the money I would be earning or the 50% discount!! :D

So here are some of my outfits...

Dress with swallow print, £12 in sale
Bow Belt, £6
Flower, £3
Leggings, £8
Bow Necklace, £3
Red Bracelets, £3
Prices before discount. All New Look

Shoes £16

Heart top, £10.99
Black skirt, £8

Dotty bow dress, £16

Hope you like my outfits :)

A little Croatian adventure of cocktails, oyster tasting and nearly flying overboard...

I chose Croatia for my summer holiday because I want where I visit to be breathtakingly beautiful- and that’s exactly what it was! For me, choosing this destination wasn’t hard, situated in a pretty town called Cavtat just a 20 minute drive from Dubrovnik, set alongside the Adriatic coast seemed perfect.

As you know I am always battling/worrying about my weight, so for this holiday again I wanted to look and feel great... and I find eating very little too hard, so I went on the wii dance game as much as I could and again I had a St Tropez tan! I felt so good the night before going, I even tried on my bikini and went outside into my garden (which I would not usually ever do!)

We arrived in Croatia on Sunday and decided to explore the town we were staying in, we were quite hungry after the long journey and early start that we went to a little restaurant for ‘light lunch’, which actually turned out to be more like a feast! Me and my boyfriend (Liam) both ordered squid risotto, first time I ever tried it and I loved it, although I did have to close my eyes because I didn’t like seeing tentacles hanging from my boyfriends mouth!

Monday we went to Dubrovnik for the day, the town was quite overwhelming and very busy! We decided to walk the walls and it was nice to see a completely different culture and you could see down on the Croatian’s houses and see how it’s another way of life! We caught the boat back to Cavtat around 4pm and lazed by the pool for a while, it was so nice to get away from it all and not have a care in the world. By the evening we were sipping cocktails in the piano bar where Liam requested the singer to sing one of my favourite songs.

Tuesday was by far my favourite day where we visited the beautiful island of Korcula. A small little island where a local told us how the postman doesn’t need addresses because everyone knows everyone! After our guided tour we stopped for a light lunch where we looked over the Dalmatian coast whilst we tucked into spinach, salsa and sour cream chicken tortillas...yum! On the journey back we went wine tasting at a local vineyard and tried oysters for the first time ever...and most definitely the last time ever!

Wednesday was a lazy day where we explored the town we were staying in; we took a long walk along the long and windy promenade and took in the lovely views. It was nice to relax and yes the sights were breathtaking- however, there wasn’t anything fun to do like a water/theme park which I always think livens up a good holiday...

Thursday we went on a fish picnic to visit the Elafiti islands- big mistake! I didn’t realise we were going on a small fisherman’s boat and I also didn’t realise that the sea was going to be so rough! Water was gushing in from either side of the boat while I let an outburst of shrieking every wave we hit. I told Liam at least he wasn’t the man that had his wife clenching onto him screaming every time a wave gushed into the boat!

Friday we went out of the country to visit the country of Montenegro, we made stops at three different places: - Budva, Kotor and the lady of the rocks. I learnt many interesting stories and loved being amongst the hugely tall mountains that towered above us.

On our last day of our 7 day break to Croatia we decided to lounge about the hotel and i treated myself to my first ever massage in the energy clinic in our hotel- absolute bliss. That finished off our mini break perfectly and now to contemplate where to visit next...

My gorgeous new maxi dress...

I found the perfect maxi dress at last and I love it!

I have been hunting for the perfect maxi dress for a while now; the only thing is I’m slightly fussy. Well most of the maxi dresses are designed extremely long so I generally just scout the petite section, but all of the dresses I’ve found in this section aren’t particularly me.

Time was running out because I really wanted the dress for my holiday next month, I was starting to slightly worry.

I found that most of the maxi dresses were either designed in a garish bright colour or an elaborate floral print, which just wasn’t me. Or another one that I saw in Top shop was nice but had tribal beading on, that wasn’t me either. I was looking for something in either a black or a striking red or blue colour with maybe some intricate beading or something.

Anyway, the dress I found was perfect. It was from Monsoon and stood out to me instantly. A black cotton maxi dress that was elasticated around the boobs and covered in delicately hand sewed gold beading. From here the dress falls flatteringly down the body and the hem of the dress is covered in gold beading. The maxi dress can be worn as a boob tube or with the long straps that start in the centre of the dress and tie around your neck with black beads falling from the bottom of the ties.

I feel this dress is perfect for anyone who is comfortable with their upper half of the body and slightly self-conscious of showing their bottom half. When I put this dress on I feel very confident, because of the flattering fit and the fact that I feel I’m showing off my best assets and it just flairs out from waist downwards!

This dress cost £50 but I feel it was definately well worth it! I always think, if you try a dress on in a shop and you immediately say 'I LOVE IT!' then you just have to have it!

Here’s a photo of me wearing the dress...

Just a few things you didn't know about me...

Hi everyone,
thought I would do a little quiz, so you can find out a little more about me. This quiz is taken from the lovely Michelle's blog...http://daisybutter.blogspot.com have a look at her pretty blog :)

Never in my life have I been: Japan... I would love to go there to see all the amazing clothing styles and go to all the shops there. I would also like to go in cherry blossom season, because the place looks so beautiful then!

The one person who can drive me nuts is: My 6 year old sister when we argue haha

High school: was fun and bad times...but sixth form was good memories, lots of stories of mischief!

When I’m nervous: I feel sick and faff about alot!

The last song I listened to was: The Postal Service- such great heights

If I were to get married right now my best man/maid of honor: um... not really sure. Think my sisters would be too young for that at the moment.

My hair is: nice and blonde but needs a bit of a trim...

When I was 5: probably crying because i didn’t want to leave my mum to go to school! Haha. I was an emotional child. still am.

Last Christmas: was nice...but it was the first year my auntie didn’t spend Christmas with the family!

I should be..: trying to get work experience at a fashion magazine!

When I look down I see: my laptop and a copy of instyle magazine.

The happiest recent event was: taking my little sister on an easter egg trail on a Sunday that ended up taking us longer than most people! And we didn’t even win an egg!

If I were a character on ‘Friends’ I’d be: don’t really watch it but i think im abit dippy like Phoebe

By this time next year: i hopefully would have got work experience at a magazine and be happy!

My current gripe is: trying to diet but loving food way too much!

I have a hard time understanding: why chocolate tastes so good.

There’s this girl I know that: looks up to me alot :)

I like you when: you read my posts :D

If I won an award, the first person I would tell would be: My Mother hen!

Take my advice: whatever you do, make sure you’re always happy.

The thing I want to buy: nothing at the moment really... maybe another holiday!

If you visited the place I was born: you may think it’s quite a small and quiet place.

If you spent the night at my house: we would watch lots of films, gossip and my mum would probably offer you her home-made cupcakes! I love them abit too much. (btw this is not her cupcake below)

The world could do without: nasty people and bullies

Most recent thing I’ve bought myself: I bought 2 new lovely dresses on ebay. One summer red strapless dress and another one shoulder red frill dress.

Most recent thing someone else bought me: my mum has just bought me a stool for my dressing table that she is going to paint and re-cover in a vintage fabric.

My middle name is: Jade

In the morning I: I am moody until i have a shower (if its too early)

The animals I would like to see flying besides birds are: none. Because that means more chance of getting pooed on!

Once, at a bar: i wait ages for a drink usually (usually i don’t actually need another drink anyway)

Last night I was: watching the film ‘the taking of Pelham 123’ with my boyfriend. It was a thriller and very good. I think my boyfriend was pleased i didn’t choose another chick flick!

If I was an animal I’d be: a bird so i could fly but im not a big animal fan.

A better name for me would be: theres lots of other names i could have. Flusterer(not even a word!), worrier, bossy boots, loud mouth (mainly when i’ve had a few too many).

Tomorrow I am: having a pyjama morning watching ‘fame’ with my mum and sisters! we are replacing popcorn for dry cheerios! haha

Tonight I am: going to bed in a minute. Can’t wait.

My birthday is: 13th March.

Hope you liked my quiz! :)
Leave me comments if you like :D
